In some cases a business can have such high outstanding liabilities that it has no option but to go into receivership. In some cases the core of the business is still viable, it was just the level of debt that was unmanageable. In these cases the owners can sometimes purchase parts of the business from the receiver and continue trading via a new company, called a phoenix business. Many assume that if their business fails they will not be able to finance the phoenix business - which is not the case. There are sympathetic providers out there who are prepared to help. Similarly many businesses do not realise that invoice finance can be available in a number of other adverse situations.
